Training and Information Sessions

Volunteer Training

CASA training classes are offered six times a year—January, March, May, July, September, and November. A class normally consists of ten three-hour sessions, as well as observation of court hearings. We alternate between daytime and evening classes and offer an online combination training course to accommodate your schedule.

Sessions are fun and interactive, and you will learn everything you need to know to get started as a CASA Volunteer. Upon successful completion of the CASA training, you will be sworn in by a family court judge in a special ceremony.

 Our training curriculum includes:

  • Introducing the CASA Role
  • Introducing the Law, the Child Protection System, and the Courts
  • Developing Cultural Competence
  • Understanding Families
  • Understanding Children
  • Communicating as a CASA
  • Practicing the CASA Volunteer Role – Gathering Information
  • Practicing the CASA Volunteer Role – Reporting & Monitoring
  • Pulling it All Together

Information Sessions

Still not sure if CASA is for you? Attend one of our community information sessions to learn more about the roles and responsibilities of CASAs, and ask questions of CASA experts.
