2026 Heart of CASA Award Recipient: Gerri Pasi

Gerri Pasi had never heard of CASA when she was first invited to an informational meeting to learn more about serving on its board of directors in 2008. She had been looking for a board service opportunity, and CASA’s mission immediately resonated with her. Along with a few others who were invited at about the same time, Gerri joined the board and soon felt the synergy of people working together toward a common mission.

According to Gerri, being on the CASA board was “outstanding.” Everyone did what they needed to do to support the mission of advocacy. She saw that attitude carry forward when new members joined during her nine years of service.

Soon, Gerri was recognized for her dedicated leadership with a nomination to be president of the board. During her term, members would gather at the conference room at Gerri’s Varnum office, which “set the tone for creative thinking.” Her board presidency saw the development of CASA’s first strategic five-year plan, which set goals that have since come to fruition.

Gerri was also instrumental in establishing CASA of Kent County’s endowment fund, an investment account where donors can direct their gifts to support CASA for years to come. Gerri’s forward thinking and belief in CASA’s longevity in Kent County helped get the endowment fund off the ground.

Beyond Gerri’s transformational strategic leadership, she is one of the biggest cheerleaders for current staff and board members. If you look at a CASA social media post welcoming new volunteers to the program, there is a high likelihood that Gerri will have already commented, expressing her appreciation. She also remains engaged, attending CASA events year after year.

During the past 18 years, Gerri has created a legacy of community impact through her work with CASA of Kent County. We are excited to honor her as the 2026 Heart of CASA award recipient!
