Impact

Empowering children. Strengthening communities.

CASA volunteers are the eyes, ears and heart of the court…and the voice of abused and neglected children.

Why is this needed in Kent County? Because 2,000–3,000 confirmed cases of abuse and neglect occur right here in our community every year. Hundreds of these kids are made wards of the Family Court and placed in out-of-home foster care. Without a helping hand from CASA volunteers, these children might fall through the cracks of an overwhelmed system and never get the opportunity to find or return to a safe, loving and permanent home.

This can severely impact a child’s ability to create a happy, productive adult life—and seriously strain current and future resources.

CASA volunteers help prevent these outcomes by getting involved with a child’s court case from beginning to end. Community impact studies prove that children served by a CASA spend less time in long-term foster care and are less likely to reenter the child welfare system.

We have many success stories to share—but we are only able to serve about one quarter of the children who need us each year. We ask you to consider volunteering or donating so that we can make a difference in more lives.
