Emerging Leaders United: Partnership in Community

CASA of Kent County is excited and honored to receive the Emerging Leaders United (ELU) microgrant from the Heart of West Michigan United Way. Thanks to the ELU fund, CASA received $3,000 to support our program’s growth to serve 20 additional children this fiscal year.
On May 16, CASA’s executive director, Stephanie, and development coordinator, Sam, attended a Coffee in the Community event hosted by the ELU committee. They were able to network with other attendees, share about CASA’s mission of advocacy, and learn more about the other grant recipient ImmiGreatness.
We are so grateful for this opportunity, not only to fund our mission, but to connect with this group of local professionals committed to empowering youth in our community and investing in a more equitable West Michigan.

For Heart of CASA, the annual fundraising dinner and award ceremony, the CASA team decided to take the opportunity of having the CASA community gathered to feature some of the Humans of CASA – in person. Thus, this year’s theme was born: Meet the humans. Feel the heart.
A month or so ago, I was reminded in the sweetest way of how lasting a CASA’s impact can be. While I was meeting with a prospective board member at a local coffee shop, a woman approached me and said, “We’ve never met, but my son, Peter, remembers you. He had a CASA — Miss Cindy.”
Hope is not a strategy—or so I’ve been told more than once.
