Donor Spotlight: Baker Holtz Golf Outing

Support for CASA of Kent County takes many forms. Sometimes, that looks like a general donation made via our website or by mailing a check to our office. Other times, things get more creative! Recently, CASA of Kent County was fortunate to be the charity recipient for Baker Holtz’s 11th annual golf outing.
Each year, Baker Holtz hosts their golf outing in support of a local organization that works with children in the West Michigan community. As this year’s featured organization, CASA of Kent County received proceeds from the event, which will help fund our essential mission of child advocacy. Additionally, Baker Holtz highlighted CASA in event promotional materials, helping to spread the word about CASA on social media and their website. CASA staff members were invited to mix and mingle with golfers before the event began. CASA Executive Director Stephanie Sheler even got to address golfers before they began their games.
Through their generous partnership, Baker Holtz not only provided vital funding, but also amplified CASA’s presence in the community. We are deeply grateful for their support and commitment to our mission. Thank you, Baker Holtz, for being champions for the children we serve!

For Chad Kirkpatrick, service has never been a pastime—it’s what guides every part of his life. As the VP of Operations at Broadway Grand Rapids, he calls his role his “dream job,” not for the title, but because nonprofit work feeds a part of him nothing else ever has. His commitment to community extends beyond his job, reflected in the many ways he invests his time in volunteer roles.
Music has always been part of Trudi Huizenga’s life. It shaped her career, her outlook, and—perhaps most importantly—her service to others.
Patty Sabin’s journey into advocacy began long before she ever volunteered with CASA. It started at home, helping her two children navigate school with their own unique learning styles. Supporting them through those challenging years taught her how to speak up, ask questions, and persist—skills that would become the foundation of her life’s work.
