Day of Caring 2024

CASA of Kent County is proud to be a partner agency of the Heart of West Michigan United Way. This not only means that we receive vital funding for our mission but also have the opportunity to connect with an expansive network of other community organizations.
Last week, the CASA of Kent County team participated in United Way’s annual Day of Caring, a community-wide event where folks volunteer at nonprofit organizations across town to help complete special projects. In recent years past, the CASA team has enjoyed cleaning the childcare area at Grace’s Table and sorting books at The Storehouse.
This year, we got to work with yet another awesome organization: St. Gianna’s No Cost Baby Boutique. This pairing was particularly exciting because St. Gianna’s is run by Catholic Charities of West Michigan, one of the five private foster care agencies that CASA works with in Kent County. The CASA staff was eager to serve our friends at Catholic Charities in a unique way and to express our appreciation for their partnership in child welfare.
Bright and early, our team got to work sorting baby clothes. With the colder seasons quickly approaching, the St. Gianna’s team needed winter clothes prepped and ready to hang up in the shop. In just a few short hours, our team sorted through several bags of donations, all while jamming out to some Taylor Swift tunes and enjoying some delicious donuts!
CASA of Kent County is grateful to the Heart of West Michigan United Way for facilitating community connections between partner agencies. We love supporting our fellow West Michigan nonprofits!
What a wonder-filled night! On October 10, 2024, the CASA community gathered at The High Five GR for the annual Heart of CASA dinner.
CASA of Kent County recently hosted special volunteer training with the Padnos/Sarosik Center for Civil Discourse of Grand Valley State University. The session, called “Navigating Challenging Conversations,” was all about learning ways to have productive dialogue—even when emotions are high.
CASA of Kent County has welcomed some new faces to the board of directors, and we’d like to introduce them!
