Celebrating Reunification and the Power of Community Partnerships

by | Jun 18, 2025 | News

Recently, the CASA of Kent County team had the privilege of attending Reunification Day, an annual celebration hosted by West Michigan Partnership for Children (WMPC), at John Ball Zoo. This special event brought together child welfare professionals, community partners, and families from across Kent County to recognize one of the most meaningful outcomes in child welfare: reunification.

Hosted by WMPC, the celebration honored families who were successfully reunified over the past year and highlighted the collaborative efforts that make such outcomes possible. Local leaders shared insights about the reunification process, and attendees had the opportunity to reflect on the importance of family preservation and healing.

We were especially grateful for the chance to stand alongside our fellow child welfare partners from the five private foster care agencies in Kent County—organizations that play a vital role in supporting children and families throughout their journey:

❤️ Bethany Christian Services
❤️ Catholic Charities West Michigan
❤️ D.A. Blodgett – St. John’s
❤️ Samaritas
❤️ Wellspring Lutheran Services

As an added bonus, our team enjoyed exploring John Ball Zoo following the celebration—a fun and fitting way to close out a day centered on hope, resilience, and connection.

Thank you to WMPC for inviting us to be part of this meaningful event. CASA of Kent County is proud to be a part of this community-centered approach to preventing child abuse and neglect and supporting brighter futures for local children and families.
