Executive Director

There are two things in life that motivate me: caring and advocating for children, and ensuring that people are treated with decency, respect and kindness. I am able to fulfill both these desires as Executive Director of CASA of Kent County.

I have 20+ years of non-profit management experience serving abused, neglected and impoverished children and families. I worked as the Executive Director of Safe Harbor Children’s Advocacy Center in Allegan County, Michigan. Safe Harbor hosted many programs: child abuse prevention education programming, forensic interviews of children, sexual abuse medical examinations, counseling for children, and the Court Appointed Special Advocate Program. I went on to manage Allegan County’s Head Start program, where I developed a broader understanding of families and the struggles they have to overcome to raise their children while living in poverty. Most recently, I was Director of Administration and Development at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Kalamazoo, which offered a safe haven for children living in more-than-challenging neighborhoods.

Finally, and most importantly, I am a single mother of a wonderful young woman who has helped shape how I look at the world. Because of her, I see all children as gifts and opportunities to do our best. I hope to share this perspective here at CASA so that the children we serve have the opportunity to flourish.
